Description:

This is a map showing the extent of basement rocks within and adjacent to the MRCI region. Proterozoic (Precambrian) crystalline basement, as well as Paleozoic "basement" east of the Appalachian Mountains, are mapped in at least nineteen terranes and provinces. A table is included to describe ages and general composition. Precambrian rifts and magnetic anomalies are also identified and mapped.

Author/Originator: John Hickman, Kentucky Geological Survey

Date Created: 2021

Map references:

Bickford, M.E., Van Schmus, W.R., and Zietz, I., 1986, Proterozoic history of the midcontinent region of North America.
