description:

This dataset was originally created for the Midwestern Regional Carbon Sequestration Partnership 2017 final report (Department of Energy Cooperative Agreement No. DE-FC26-05NT42589). Only eastern Ohio was studied, although the formation does extend beyond the area of interest. This data set contains subsurface information on the undifferentiated Upper Silurian Salina Group in eastern Ohio compiled from hardcopy and digital public data housed at the Ohio Department of Natural Resources (ODNR) Division of Geological Survey and Division of Oil and Gas Resources Management. Data points were determined by geologist using well logs throughout eastern Ohio in Petra software, and then exported in ArcGIS for contouring. Suspect tops were identified using cluster number. The resultant tops were gridded using both high-data density and low-data density models which were contoured, clipped, merged, and edited. The seamless contours were re-gridded with ArcGIS 3D Analyst.

This work was funded in part of the Department of Energy Midwestern Regional Carbon Sequestration Partnership (Department of Energy Cooperative Agreement No. DE-FC26-05NT42589), and the Ohio severance taxes. The following staff members from the ODNR Division of Geological Survey worked on the dataset: Michael Solis and Julie Bloxson are the primary authors; technical support was provided by Dominique Haneberg-Diggs, Nathan Erber, and J.D. Stucker; additional contributions and oversight were provided by Mohammad Fakhari, Charles Salmons, Michael Angle, and Thomas Serenko.

Author/Originator: Michael Solis and Julie Bloxson

Date Created: 2017
