This is a structure contour map constructed upon the top of the Onondaga Limestone in eastern Ohio. This data set was originally created as a deliverable for the Ohio Coal Development Office final report (grant agreement CDO/D-10-07b). This data set contains surface and subsurface information compiled from hardcopy and digital public data at Ohio Department of Natural Resources (ODNR) Division of Geological Survey and Division of Oil and Gas Resources Management. A number of published reports containing geologist-picked formation tops were used in conjunction with driller-reported formation tops from ODNR Division of Oil and Gas Resources Management Risk-Based Data Management System and a combination of outcrop and bedrock topography to create a point shapefile suitable for Kriging using ArcGIS. Using ArcGIS Geostatistical Analyst, suspect formation tops were weeded out via cluster number. The resultant tops were gridded using both high-data density and low-data density models which were contoured, clipped, merged, and edited. The seamless contours were re-gridded with ArcGIS 3D Analyst. The contours were generated using both geologist-picked formation tops and driller-recorded formation tops to ascertain lineaments incident to multiple horizons. Lineaments incident to multiple horizons describe structural planes. However at this time the nature of the planes is not defined.

This work was funded in part by the Ohio Coal Development Office-grant agreement CDO/D-10-07b. The following staff members from the ODNR Division of Geological Survey worked on this shapefile: Michael Solis, author; preliminary contours reviewed by Mark Baranoski, Ronald Riley, and Mohammad Fakhari; cartography by Dean Martin; Chuck Salmons, Mohammad Fakhari, and Ronald Riley edited and reviewed map layout; final review performed by Chief Thomas Serenko.

Author/Originator: Michael Solis

Date Created: 2015

|
